Presidents’ Leadership Awards & Newman Civic Fellows Awards

Deadline is Tuesday!!

As you know, we have streamlined the process for NH campuses to submit their Newman Civic Fellow nominees by incorporating it into our Presidents’ Awards submission process.     Last year 10 students from NH campuses were honored by receiving this award.  Anyone who is nominated will become a Newman Civic Fellow.  The deadline for the Presidents’ Leadership Award is 3:00 PM EST on February 28th.

Keene State College has an opening for a Coordinator of Community Service.  This position provides oversight for Keene State College Volunteer Community Service Programs, support for service-based student organizations, creating and maintaining relationships with community partners, developing new volunteer opportunities and researching funding sources.  A bachelor’s degree with 2 years experience in higher education is required.  A Master’s degree is preferred.  For more information or to apply click here.

We hope you’ll join us in Bedford for this interactive workshop facilitated by Michele Campagna, Executive Director of the Center for Advising and Student Transitions at Montclair State University in New Jersey.  The workshop, which is rescheduled from January, will feature a discussion of what is institutional effectiveness and why the first year sets the tone for institutional effectiveness. Ensuring Access, Inclusive Excellence, & Civic Engagement Panel

This workshop will feature a panel of Advisory Board members from the Enhancing Inclusive Excellence in New Hampshire Communities Initiative. These leaders are taking a proactive approach to meeting the needs of a population whose demographics are changing rapidly. The initiative seeks to create resources and models for “inclusive excellence” – that is, preparing students to live and work in a world that is multicultural, multilingual, and multiracial and whose borders and boundaries are blurring into an ever-expanding global community and economy. The two-year project aims to build strong relationships between higher education and diverse communities both on and off campus.  Registration available soon.

Campus Compact for NH in collaboration with the other state Compacts on the east coast will be hosting the 2012 Eastern Regional Campus Compact Conference on October 11 and 12, 2012 at Dartmouth College.  The Call for Proposals is now available. In this interactive webinar, the presenters will share their personal story of violence and their work to engage students, other faculty, administrators, and community partners in reducing sexual assault and dating violence. Examples of both curricular and co-curricular programs that bring awareness, educate, and provide victim services will be highlighted. SERVICE LEARNING IN THE HUMANITIES
The Fall 2012 issue of the journal Interdisciplinary Humanities

will be a special issue on service-learning in the humanities.  The editors welcome submissions of articles, essays, and reflective pieces on service-learning from various points of view: students, faculty, agency mentors, and higher-education and non-profit

community administration and staff. Documents may focus on studies, theory, practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and school-community partnerships as they apply to service-learning.
