VISTA Spotlight: Glenn Fearnley

By

Glenn Picture

My name is Glenn Fearnley, and I am serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA at Manchester Community College to develop and coordinate a new Multicultural Center on campus for low income first generation college students.   I am from the small town of Bradford, New Hampshire.  I left New Hampshire to graduate from the School of Oriental and African Studies, part of the University of London, with a degree in the Study of Religions in 2010, and then again to teach English in elementary schools in Japan in 2015.  My project at MCC gives me an amazing opportunity to explore my passion for increasing cultural awareness and languages, and to make sure all students feel comfortable and welcome as they step into higher education.  I also support the Cultural Exchange Club, as an ESL Tutor, and as a member of the Diversity and Equity Team.  My experience as an AmeriCorps VISTA has been absolutely phenomenal.  I am lucky to be a part of a great team of dedicated VISTA’s engaged in exciting programs and with inspiring commitments to service.  At MCC I also get to play a very rewarding role in encouraging students, and being a part of their academic success and persistence, as well as developing programming to increase college persistence and cultural awareness on campus.  #iamvista #americorpsworks
