Information Session: Campus Compact Community College Network

Join colleagues from around the country as we share our robust agenda for Campus Compact's community college members. The rejuvenated Community College Network will build systems to share learning, elevate expertise, highlight impact, foster strategic partnerships, and build a foundation for long-term growth and sustainability. We will hold two information sessions on the Community College Network relaunch: September 6, 2022, 3:00 - 4:00 pm EDT September 23, 2022, 12:00 - 1:00 pm EDT Who should attend? Information will be shared that is relevant to constituents across the institution. These include presidents and chancellors, senior administrators, faculty, and community engagement professionals. What can I expect? We will share the new Community College Network’s design, objectives, and activities. Developed with input from key stakeholders, these objectives meet the demands of our members. Pathways of Public Service and Civic Engagement

Campus Compact and the Haas Center for Public Service at Stanford University have announced a new partnership to expand the reach of the Pathways of Public Service and Civic Engagement and support its associated Working Group. This academic year, the entities will co-facilitate and support the Working Group, a collaborative effort undertaken by 88 institutions and organizations across the U.S. and abroad to implement, analyze, use, and refine the Pathways framework and survey. Beginning in the 2023–2024 academic year, Campus Compact will assume fiscal and programmatic management and work in partnership with Working Group members to identify rotating leadership co-chairs. Furthermore, Campus Compact is now using the Pathways as a centerpiece of the Newman Civic Fellowship experience and curriculum design. Join us for a one-hour information session on this new partnership. Rise Up: How Faculty Can Respond to the Challenges of Our Time

Faculty development workshop on addressing climate change and food insecurity, offered by Maine Campus Compact With our planet in crisis and communities facing growing challenges, higher education is called to action to take the lead in addressing two of the world’s most pressing social issues: climate change and food insecurity. In service to the highest ideals of democracy, faculty are well-positioned to help prepare students to address complex global problems. To help prepare faculty for this vital role, we are offering a timely one-week virtual course with three live sessions stemming from Maine Campus Compact’s Campuses for Environmental Stewardship (CES) program. This course will bring together faculty participants to consider ways to implement community-engaged teaching/learning while addressing many critical topics. Applying Deliberative Polling: A Course for Students to Study and Enact Deliberative Democracy

This webinar will discuss how higher education institutions can build virtual and in-person deliberative democracy into student life. It will focus on COMM 138/238 Applying Deliberative Polling, a practicum course for students at Stanford. In COMM 138/238, students study deliberative democracy and then design and implement their own Deliberative Poll, an experiment and educational event where participants are surveyed about their opinions on policy after moderated, small-group deliberation.
