Publishing Engaged Scholarship
This session will concentrate on getting community based scholarship published. We will review definitions of engaged scholarship, examine examples of community based research projects with strong scholarly outputs, and engage in hands-on activities that will allow you to reflect on and prepare for your own publication strategy. Participants are expected to come prepared with an abstract (150 – 300 words) for a possible publication related to their engaged research project.

2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Syllabus Makeover: Rethinking Your Service-Learning Syllabi
The second session will allow you to get creative with your syllabi. We will cover the elements of good service-learning design, provide examples and then give you the freedom to create a syllabus that works for your class. Come prepared with a paper copy of a syllabus from a service-learning course that you are happy to cut, paste, shred, color and otherwise overhaul.
